Its out of order, but we dont want to leave it out!

My name is Caele Manley, and I am on the GoldenEyes Middle School Robotics Team. Over our fall break we had three practices which took place on Tuesday, October 2, Thursday, October 4, and Friday, October 5. On Tuesday we went to Na puuwai Health Center to spend time with the senior citizens in an effort to get to know them. We each had to pick a senior citizen as a partner and hang out with them throughout the duration of our practice. On Thursday we started our day in Mr. Gonzales’ classroom setting up the First Lego League Robotics Challenge table and assembling the pieces for the competition. Later that day we returned to the Na puuwai Health Center to spend some more quality time with the senior citizens. We completed our day by once again returning to Mr. G’s classroom to complete the construction and gathering of all that was needed for the FLL Challenge table. For our team Friday morning came very early as we met at 5:30 am in Mr.G’s classroom! We set out on a mission to go and find senior citizens who were up and drinking their coffee. We had been told that The Drive-in and Mrs. K’s were the elderly peoples’ hangouts, but evidently our sources were not very reliable. Though we drove all through Kaunakakai town, we only found 5 people that were 65 or older. We did share our project with them, and they were very encouraging. The said that they thought our eye ware which is designed to help senior citizens with facial recognition is a great idea!

We have been so busy we forgot to blog!

On October 9th we all came together to rehearse and make changes to the script. Then we all had about 15 minutes to work on the robot . And while that person was doing the robot the rest of us we worked on the script. When we all had a turn at the robot we all came together and all worked on the script for the rest of the time. I had fun seeing the script come together, I think it is funny and gets a lot of our research out to the audience. Thanks for looking at our blog! -Katy
