Spring Cleaning

Hi my name is Erik Svetin and I am blogging about the March 5th practice.

Today, we continued practicing our jobs, but today, myself and Noah cleaned the competition mat because it was NOT CLEAN! There may still be stains on the mat. After shooting down our board we hung it up to dry. Then, we got together and went over our lines for our project presentation. We were very RUSTY! We then practiced with our acting; still, very RUSTY! After going over our presentation, we brought the competition mat back in and put all of the pieces on the board. The mat looked brand new and could not have been cleaner!
We then finished with a couple of missions.  We were worried that the newly cleaned mat may affect our light sensor readings for one of our missions, but we didnt have time to run that one. We will find out next week.

Coming together and splitting up to get the job done!

My name is Caele Manley, and I am on the Molokai Middle School Golden Eyes Robotics Team. As many of you already know, we as a team qualified for the national competition that will take place in California in the middle of May. This means that we only have a little over two months to prepare for this event. We are only meeting one hour a week so the time that we have is very valuable. This past week we discussed the decision of letting Sarah J. continue in the role of being our student mentor. We all agreed that she should be a part of preparing us to be ready for the upcoming competition. After we concluded this decision we split up in to three teams to focus on our different responsibilities.  Lily J., Sarah J., and myself were responsible to create a new song for our core values presentation. The other groups worked hard to fulfill their own responsibilities, too. This week was a good week for thinking things through and making decisions to lead us to California.

Check back next week for a new blog!

Here we go again

Hi, Molokai GoldenEye blog readers. On our second practice of robotics we had to write a half page of why robotics is important to me?
This piece is written by Lily. Robotics is important to me because through out the years that I’ve been here, I’ve learned so many things that I probably wouldn’t know like gracious professionalism, cooperation, but most of all learning to be a team. At the same time it made me who I am today, if you knew me before I started robotics I was shy and I would never thought I would be in the same position I am today. Robotics has opened me to fields never even knew were here. It also gives me a chance to share my ideas with others.
The next piece is written by Caele. Robotics is important to me because it helps me learn a lot and it teaches me how to work with other people and it is very fun. It is also important because I get to go to new places and have a great time and I am proud to represent the state of Hawaii.
This one is written by Katy. Robotics is important to because it helps me in school when I had science fair I could present my board to my friends and sound and act professional. Its also is important because I got to research things that I did not know about seniors. It is important because I get to learn more about my team mates and got learn to work better in a team with boys and girls.
Also this piece is written by Noah It is important to me because it is fun and get to learn new things that could help other people. Robotics is also important to me because it is what I like to do. And because we get to see new places and meet new people.
This paragraph is written by Eric. Robotics is important to me because it helps me prepare for the future, I have to understand and present a project. It also helps me in teamwork because we are a team, F.Y.I one of our core values. If we don’t work together we won’t win and we wouldn’t be going to Nationals. The core values are a bunch of values that teams must follow to compete. Also, if I don’t do robotics, my mom would make me play an instrument, not the ukulele or guitar. She’ll probably make me play the piano or something for three hours.
Last but not least Kaitlin, also know as me. Robotics is important to me because I get to participate in something that I am really good at. I enjoy spending time with my team and coaches. Also in the future I know I will be able to work with anybody boy or girl. Also I have been doing very good in school since I been in Robotics.
Those were the half page pieces we did on February 12, 2013 at Molokai GoldenEyes robotics practice. There will be different articles each week. We’ll keep you posted.
